Subscribe
Technically ‘RSS’ stands for “Really Simple Syndication” which is an XML format created for syndicate news. It is a way to share content on the web by obtaining a subscription to a website or blog and get “fed” all new headlines on all of your regularly visited sites and blogs in one list. Instead of spending a lot of time visiting 25 of your most favorite blogs and websites, you now can see what’s going on in minutes.
Subscribing to RSS feeds
By subscribing to a website or blog’s RSS feed, you are telling the website or blog “Yes, please. Send me your story headlines”. You will get a list of headlines sent to your RSS reader and if the headline looks interesting, all you have to do is click on the headline and you’ll be sent directly to the whole story.
How to Subscribe?
In order to subscribe to a website or blog’s RSS, you need to click on the RSS symbol like this:
or you will find a text link of the words “Subscribe to our RSS feed” on the website or blog. Typically, you will find these RSS symbols or text links on the sides of a website page or on the bottom of the page.
RSS Readers
The way to get an RSS reader will depend on what browser you like to use and how accessible you’d like your RSS list to be.
There are different flavors of RSS XML feeders such as: RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0 and Atom.
